About Me

I am Denise Baynham, an experienced lifestyle photographer and photography educator.

While in London working in the world of commercial law, I decided it wasn’t my forever job. I enrolled to study photography – best decision I ever made! I love photography and working in the industry.

After completing my study, I worked in a busy studio in central London doing mostly commercial and editorial photography. When I came back to NZ I started my own business and focused on commercial and wedding photography, as well doing studio photography for a top NZ retailer and ecommerce business.

More recently most of my work has been with the Auckland Museum. I am photographing all of their treasures and artefacts for a digital archive and online exhibitions. It is a photography project like no other. Never did I dream I would be photographing a mummy and archaeological items that are thousands of years old, or stunning and intricate handmade wedding dresses from the Pacific Islands. No work day is ever the same. Better work stories – I have loads!

I am also a photography educator. I love teaching photography – sharing the love. At least one weekend a month I teach at Auckland Zoo.  It’s awesome to see people leave at the end of a workshop with a whole lot of new skills and what a place to learn!
